20 Years
Twenty tears ago today, February 21, 1991, was the day we found out that I needed dialysis. I was 12. We didn’t know anything about kidneys or anything like that. We pretty much learned as we went. It’s still an ongoing learning experience. Back then, I didn’t think that twenty years later, I’d still be doing the same thing. I always thought that by now I’d have a good, working kidney, and have gone through school, and maybe already gotten a good start in my career. But here I sit, with two rather large needles stuck in my arm, and feeling no futher ahead than I was then. I’m just twenty years older, about three inches taller, and thirty pounds heavier.
