There’s more to PEI than red haired orphans
With Regis and Kelly being on Prince Edward Island this week, I’ve been disappointed with the constant plugging of Anne of Green Gables. PEI is so much more than that, but it seems to be everything they’ve talked about. Anne of Green Gables, and seafood. Not that PEI’s seafood isn’t great, it’s world famous. I just think that since this was a Prince Edward Island Tourism endeavor, that perhaps they should have talked about more than Anne and oysters.
Why not talk about the beaches, the lighthouses, the golf courses, the wind farm at North Cape, or the meeting of the tides at East Point? How about PEI’s museums? There’s the Potato Museum in O”Leary, The Acadian Museum in Miscouche, which showcases the Island’s French heritage, or even Province House in Charlottetown, that tells the story of Canada’s birth.
Yes, there is more to this small island stuck in the Gulf of St. Lawrence than the red haired orphan, or the equally red soil, and I think Prince Edward Island Tourism dropped the ball on this one.
